Realistic Serenity Behavioral Health

Offering individual, couples, family and child counseling to the Denver metro area

We believe in choosing happiness

Our private practice is located near I-25 and Colorado Blvd. We utilize Play Therapy with children and teens in addition to working with adult individuals and families to create the empowerment to make choices that better fit the reality you envision for yourself. For too long, mental well-being has been something that people were supposed to figure out for themselves. We're here to tell you that it really isn't necessary to go it alone.

These are broad categories of the services we offer most frequently, but there are so many specific situations that could fall into these categories!  If you don't see what you're looking for, just ask.  If you need a service we don't provide we are more than happy to refer you to a qualified therapist that can meet your needs.

Some of the areas we can help with include :

Play Therapy

Anxiety, Fears & Panic Attacks

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)

Family Conflict

Grief & Loss

Parenting & Co-Parenting

Pre-Mediation Counseling

We always offer a complimentary phone consultation for individuals considering mental health services.  This gives us the opportunity to speak about what you are looking for and will help us to ensure that we can offer the services that you are needing.  If we're not a good fit, we are happy to give you alternative resources - it's important to us that you receive high quality services, and if we can't provide that we want to make sure you talk to someone who can!

Our current rates for counseling services are below.  We will discuss the length of session that would be most beneficial to meet your needs. We accept all major credit cards, as well as checks or cash. Many clients prefer to use their flexible spending accounts (FSAs or HSAs) for services as well.

At this time we do accept some insurance plans (see below), and are considered out-of-network providers for others. Many insurance companies will reimburse a portion of fees for out-of-network services.  Please check with your insurance provider to determine what their policies and reimbursement rates are.  We are happy to provide you with an invoice that you may submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. You can also you HSA plans for mental health services.

We are also happy to be able to offer our Adjusted Fee Program, supported by Master's level counseling interns. These clinicians are in their final stages of training, having completed the vast majority of their clinical coursework. Our interns stay with the group for an average of 9-10 months and often have more availability in the evenings or on weekends! If your therapist is part of the Adjusted Fee Program, you can expect that they will be supervised by 1-2 licensed and well-trained clinicians and your sessions may be recorded for educational purposes. Rest assured - your therapist is the one being recorded, not so much you! Recorded sessions and stored securely and destroyed. The Adjusted Fee Program may be a good option to work with finances or for greater scheduling flexibility.

There are many reasons to use insurance for mental health services, but it may surprise you to know that there are many reasons not to utilize insurance benefits.  Here is a great article that discusses why many mental health practitioners choose not to accept insurance.  The best way I know to explain it is this: Say you take your vehicle in for a tune-up and it costs $500.  You submit that bill to your automobile insurance company and they deny the claim. You argue that it is necessary and preventative maintenance, needed to ensure that your car runs as well as it possibly can - and you're absolutely right, it is!  Nevertheless, that is not going to be paid by your auto coverage.  It's an investment that you know you need to make if you want your car to last and to perform at it's best.  You're worth the same investment that your car is, so take care of yourself!
