So, what can I say about myself? If you are looking for credentials, education, etc. keep scrolling down - it's all there! But you might be more interested in who I am as a person that could potentially share a close relationship with you. I have lived in Colorado all of my life, and while I dreamed of living elsewhere as a child, now that I have had an opportunity to travel to several other states I can honestly say that I love it here! I enjoy being outside (but not if it's cold) and might have a slight obsession with online shopping. I am a runner (which I find hilarious as I don't especially enjoy running), and have completed several half marathons. No, I have no interest in ev-er doing a full marathon. By mile 12 I start to seriously question my life choices and vow to never sign up for another race.
I have an amazingly supportive husband and am mom to a child that pretty much rules my universe. I'm up to date on all of the Disney Junior shows and can recite details pertaining to all of the Disney princesses, thanks to my kiddo, whose imagination knows no bounds. I enjoy baking, with sporadic success, and love trying new things. I am an avid sushi connoisseur, but I hate corn. I know, I know - how is that even possible, but it's a true story! Colorado Girl Tip: Yes, you should visit Casa Bonita at least once, and yes it is exactly as described in the South Park episode. No, you should not plan to really eat there, other than sopapillas. Remember, flag up for sopapillas - the platter is just your ticket in!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Registered Play Therapist Supervisor and Accredited Clinical Supervisor in Colorado, having obtained my Masters of Community Counseling from Regis University. I completed additional studies in Play Therapy and Supervision while in school and after graduating. As part of my training I completed an internship at Judi's House, which specializes in helping children who have lost a loved one by providing grief counseling via groups, play therapy, family and individual counseling services. The Registered Play Therapist Supervisor credential involved an additional hundreds of hours worth of play therapy sessions, training and supervision. You can learn more about play therapy here.
In the past I have worked at residential treatment facilities that serve children and adolescents. I have also worked with the courts and schools to provide support for truancy reduction programs. I am a National Certified Counselor and member of the Colorado Counseling Association, Colorado Association for Play Therapy and the Association for Play Therapy. I recently served as a board member for the Colorado Association of Play Therapy and a member of the Arapahoe County Truancy Task Force.
When not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and our kids (our child and two furbabies, Charlie and Sushi).
