Counseling for Anxiety and/or Panic Attacks

Anxiety can be bothersome for many and debilitating for some.  Some signs that you may be experiencing anxiety or panic attacks are:

  • restlessness or feeling keyed up or on edge

  • being easily fatigued

  • difficulty concentrating or mind going blank

  • irritability

  • muscle tension

  • sleep distrubance (difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless unsatisfyinf sleep

Panic attacks may include some of the above feelings, but are charterized by:

  • palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated HR

  • excessive sweating

  • trembling or shaking

  • sensations of shortness of breath or smothering

  • feeling of choking

  • chest pain or discomfort

  • nausea or abdominal distress

  • feeling dizzy, unsteady, lightheaded, or faint

  • derealization or depersonalization

  • fear of losing control or going crazy

  • fear of dying

  • paresthesias (numbing or tingling sensations)

  • chills or hot flashes

Our therapists know from personal experience how terrifying panic attacks can be, and how very real the symptoms feel - regardless of whether they are justified or not.  We can help you learn coping skills and body awareness techniques that will help you to manage your symptoms without the need for medication.  More importantly, we will also work together to find what triggers the anxiety and panic and work to help you choose the thoughts behind those episodes.
